As an update Senator Ashburn, who has a record of voting against each and every Gay & Lesbian rights initiative and a vocal opponent of same, has now (...wait for it...) come out and said “I am Gay” but gone on to say (...prepare WTF reaction now...)that this revelation is in no way in conflict with his voting record and he continues to hold the same positions (I’m guessing perhaps with a more relaxed sphincter).

There are a bunch of things I do in private that I’d not support in public—the naughtiness factor applying.

That’s an interesting argument, Dimmer. I’ve always said everyone’s allowed a certain degree of hypocrisy. It’s just a matter of how much. I think this still crosses the line for me.

I ain’t buying Ashburn’s line that he’s self-hating enough to believe he should outlaw himself. Wait ... maybe that makes the sex hotter?

In this case, I agree that he went over the line in hypocrisy—he should at least have taken a neutral stance on the issues. But part of me is sad that people are still talked of as “coming out”—it makes the sexuality of some seem in some way “bad”.

Did he say if he was a top, bottom, or versatile? Does GOP really stand for Gay Old Party?
