Actually, we went to Friday’s last week. When we do eat at a restaurant we usually avoid the chains and eat local. However this particular night it was about 9:15 and our fair city has a 9PM curfew for minors, and our youngest is only 17 (for about 3 more weeks). That meant we had to go to the ‘Burb next door, and they only have chains.

Anyway, I have to agree with most of this article, except the part about Ruby Tuesday’s. We went there about 2 years ago, it was near empty, the service sucked and so did the food. We ain’t going back.

GS, your town curfews minors even when they are out with parents/guardians? That seems kind of harsh.

As for the article, I agree with you, we try and avoid the chains as much as possible.

That infringing on parental purview.

All of the locally owned eateries open past 9 serve liquor. They have all agreed that the drinking crowd after 9 is not suitable for children to witness. They are private businesses, and it is their choice to restrict their business as they wish. The city curfew on minors just happens to coincide with their wishes.

Remember, I live in the district that re-elected Michelle Bachman to Congress.
