11:04 AM | | I almost got Spazmo to watch ANTM but alas, he didn’t. There’s nobody good on this year. They need a Jade. They had that Christian girl to keep things interesting but she had to drop out, and now there’s just ... a bunch of boring mediocre wannabes.
The two brothers on Top Chef are boring pussies. I hate them I hate them I hate them. I hate the way they talk most of all. Dude’s comment when he lost the challenge, “I’d rather make exciting flavors then know how to de-ooze a cactus” might be logical but reeked of poor sportsmanship. Just congratulate the dude and say you can’t win them all.

11:30 AM | | Unfortunately I can’t talk about TC this week as I haven’t seen the episode yet. I’m traveling for work and the stupid hotel doesn’t get Bravo. Plus my IT overlords block streaming video so no online clips for me.

11:32 AM | | Stupid IT overlords! Don’t they realize there’s more important things?
Anyway, I will not say anymore about the episode than I’ve already given away.

02:48 PM | | I’m looking for something to get into watching… (I’ll buy the Season DVDs to catch up.) Here’s my possible list. Any thoughts on these? I leaning towards Fringe.
Weeds
Breaking Bad
Fringe
Mad Men
Other suggestions?
I also watch True Blood off and on now, a bit less into it that the first season.

02:52 PM | | If you aren’t familiar with it I recommend atleast renting (a ‘buy’ for me) the first season of MTV’s sketch comedy series The State. It’s been around for three seasons and may be moving to ABC to go up against SNL.

02:53 PM | | I know my posts don’t relate to reality TV but I didn’t think LP would mind my threadjack too much.

My tense is wrong in that. It’s not a current show. It was around for three seasons, the talk of it going to ABC or CBS is long dead

Not a bit, you are correct.
I couldn’t get into Dexter try as I might. I liked Weeds very much--only saw the first season and have always meant to get back to that, though I hear it eventually goes downhill (from one source). I’ve never heard of Breaking Bad. I want to like Mad Men, and maybe one of these days I’ll get into it, but I saw an episode and I was yawning. Could’ve been tired though.

01:59 PM | | Dexter season 1 was great, season 2 seemed like “Shit, we got renewed? Ideas people!”—aka poor. Season 3 was a great recovery.
(We have no TV, so all I get to watch is stuff on DVD/Hulu/Miro—sure, I’ve got a buttload of DVD’s, but still...)
I’ve been enjoying “Californication”—Dave Duck. is a great comic actor.
Both “Bullshit!” and “Weeds” did hit a bad case of Seinfeld Syndrome (later seasons suck)—but I watch them anyway.
House and it’s step-sister Monk I watch and like—sure there’s a formula, but the leads are great
Reality TV I don’t watch: bad that they lie about it being scripted, worse that the scripting is so fucking bad.

03:10 PM | | I almost got Spazmo to watch ANTM but alas, he didn’t.
I had some cool new art books. With big pictures. Otherwise, I might have given it a shot.

04:22 PM | | Personally, I only refer to “barely legal”, “Hustler” and “Shaved and Oiled Secretaries” as “Art Books” in court.

05:21 PM | | So I picked up the first season of Fringe yesterday. I stopped into a neighbourhood grocery store on the way home to grab a couple things. In line the guy behind me, a tall black guy notices the Fringe DVD box set(I’m holding it ‘open’ having declined a bag at point of purchase because I care about the environment, that being just the kind of guy I am.) He asks me whether I’m into the show, tells me it’s filmed here in Vancouver (which I didn’t know. So I ask him whether it’s a good show and he say “Yes but then I’m biased”. Turns out he’s in the show, play a Homeland Security guy. Lance Reddick. There are a lot of actors, celeb types in my hood but it was an odd happenstance.

05:57 PM | |
On February 21, 2009, it was reported that in the event that Fringe is renewed for a second season, the show will move production to Vancouver from New York City as a cost-cutting measure.
Seems Fringe was filmed in NYC, moved here for Season 2 so I won’t be seeing Vancouver landmarks watching S1.

04:14 PM | | My guiltiest pleasure so far? Deadliest Warrior on Spike (you can see it free online as well).
If you’ve ever wondered who would win in a fight, a Shaolin Monk or a Maori warrior, then this is the show for you.
It was the Monk, by the way.
