Lately our caller ID has been just showing a neighboring city quite often (always the same one). Fake bill collectors, Anti-tax ranters, political fund raisers,automobile warranty sellers, evangelists, and others all leave sorry we missed you please call us at1-800-***-****. Weird. We are on the do not call list, but still the calls keep coming.

Same here: a nearby city, but a number not in my ‘book, so it goes to voice mail and gee they never leave a message (or if they do, it’s 15 to 30 seconds of fuzzy silence).

The DNC list has a lot of exceptions in it: for example, political campaigners can ignore it; charitable and religious organizations can ignore it; and random computerized dialers (drunk digital dialers?) are supposed to check it, but often don’t.
