I’d assume that pedophiles and other such types are probably evenly spread throughout society: the real issue here and with Mother Church is that when they get found out, instead of being reported to the authorities for investigation, the organization tries to dismiss, ignore, or actively cover up the crimes.

That said, it does appear that putting men with a vow of celibacy in close proximity to potential targets, the results are never good. Even (perhaps more so) cults like the Coresh folks seem to have this type of behavior as an ingrained aspect of their belief.
