America’s self-titled debut album was one of my favorites for many, many years. Burned a lot of herb as I wore out 3 or 4 vinyls. I did manage to find a copy in good enough shape to digitize, and still listen a couple times a year. The mixture of 6 string, 12 string, electric, bass, and voice sometimes still amazes me. And yes, it does take the children to make a better land. RIP dude.

Grind ‘em up for fertilizer?

America were not really to my taste, and I really dislike “Horse with No Name”—it seemed to be played to death on the radio as I was growing up. Might vaporize a bowl and try a more varied selection of their works.

Oh, HELL yeah. That alone made me not want to listen to any of their other stuff (apologies Gloveshot).

And now it’s stuck in my head, alternating with Amy Winehouse’s cover of “Valerie”, which is about as odd a mashup as I ever want to hear.
