The grief counselors’ll swarm in and offer free counseling after a tragedy--mostly in the form of group therapy in which everybody gets together and cries, and tries to huddle around the fire of the Great Tragedy by recounting precisely how nearly they got burned.

Those reluctant to draw close to the embers out of a logical resistance to the fire that just scorched them are accused of being cold to their own emotions. They’re the ones who later are going to be charged Giant Bills.

I am beginning to think the bailout is not the proper direction. Let the economy crumble. The smart, the durable, the clever and the ambitious will claw their way through it and come out stronger. The whiners, the criers and the lazy won’t make it, and will not be a burden on the new society.

Actually, It is the Conservatives around me who are screaming for help the most. I figure it has something to do with the sudden loss of income from their business, the rising mortgage payments on their brand new homes and having to send their kids to public school. They just don’t know what to do.

Meanwhile the liberal Democrats are sucking it up and are saying, “Let’s get going and do something to get out of this.”

Maybe because it is just another challenge, just a little bit bigger.
