In case you missed it, in a prior ad the Cain spokesperson sucks on a Marlboro like there’s no tomorrow. Now, I don’t think smoking t’baccy is the same as smoking dope/weed/grass/hemp/cannabis whatever: t’baccy will fucking kill you, d/w/g/h/c might make you think Sky were a great band. It’s hard to tell which is more tragic: cancer or prog rock.
-Mr. Cain lost all credibility when he proposed a 9% Federal sales tax. Sales taxes are the most regressive taxes ever dreamed up. They put a serious strain on the economically disadvantaged.
But they are good for businesses, which usually get exemptions under the guise of promoting job growth. However, job growth is not in the interests of business, The interests and purpose of business is to produce profit for share holders/proprietors. Hiring employees at market rates usually hurts the bottom line. That is why illegal aliens and off-shoring make more sense to business. Tax cuts for business will not reduce the number of the unemployed.
But it’s simple gloveshot! It’s SIMPLE! Sure, it fucks over the lower income people (as everyone needs to buy necessities), but guess what? The poor tend to be uneducated and simple-minded* so they’ll go for this type of “flat tax” no matter how much it harms them.
