For the mega-rich Elvis fans! $750! I mean, sure, he can sing and shake his child bearing hips around but…

I guess the hardcore fans will lap it up.

CD labels look kinda krap though: for example (and they are all as bad).

$750 for a box of CDs? There should be vinyl involved. CDs start going crappy after 5 years or so.

Elvis had a fantastic voice. Sorta like the male Mariah of his day. But alas, his choice of songs often did not coincide with my personal musical tastes, much like Mariah’s choice of tunes do not really appeal to me.

In other words, I’ll probably pass on this.

I’ve been lucky and only had a few CD’s get bit-rot over the past twenty years or so, but yeah, they ain’t forever. There was a story about this somewhere today: a Cure album’s master tapes had digital tape rot so badly it wasn’t recoverable. I did feel like yelling “And no backup? And you didn’t transfer it every two years to prevent this?”

Not that I need a tin foil hat or anything, but the decay of CD’s and DVD’s could be a way for the industry to keep you buying the same things over and over again.

As far as the Elvis thing goes: for $750 I’d want the CD’s, Audio DVD’s, Vinyl, and all the movies on Blu-Ray.

Only then would it be worthy of sitting in a space on my media library, gathering dust.
