The Medicare/Social Security situation could be solved by eliminating the withholding cap. Reducing military spending would help a great deal. But there is something else that needs to be done.

There needs to be a "New National Challenge" similar to the one JFK made when he proposed putting a man on the moon by the end of the decade. But I propose something even more difficult to achieve.

Make the United States of America the world’s largest exporter of Energy by the year 2020. At the same time, the American population continues to enjoy the lifestyle we have, but cut our own energy consumption by 50%. But I doubt if we have the balls to undertake such a challenge.

We’d need some new technology to be able to export power (beyond countries with which we have borders) and we’ve not done well with electrical distribution in the last century. But yes, that would be a good goal.

Maybe not as sexy as “Let’s go to the moon!”, but “Let’s get our shit in one bag!” would be an admirable effort.

Military spending should be performance based, and bullshit like the continual “investment” in nuclear weapons kiboshed.

And maybe if we started collecting corporation taxes, which we often don’t, would help a great deal. And we need to fix the issues with bringing in “high level” workers from abroad where we don’t need them, and de-incentivising outsourcing.

And I should get much more money than I do now, right?
