Right. Because it’s impossible to go out into the woods without shooting something.
My brother used to enjoy going out in the woods and shooting things. Specifically: deer. Recently, a lame deer came towards his back yard. Hurt, i guess it had no choice but to approach him. So he fed it and brought it back to health. The experience changed his attitude toward deer and now he’s adopted a whole colony. He says he’ll never hunt again. I worry about the deer he’s “rescuing,” but at the same time, it’s nice to hear a story of redemption.
But if we’re not going to hunt the deer, we’d better figure out how we’re going to feed them all.
The wolf comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek since there’s no way that we, as a species, are going to allow any other predator to run sufficiently wild to restore the old sort of balance.
I am pro-wolf but I am also pro-eating-cute-things. However, I am definitively anti-people-who-feel-they-MUST-be-allowed-to-shoot-things.
