An apologist is just an apologist. Doesn’t matter how many bucks a journalist can make from it. Holding the courage of your convictions isn’t negotiable if you want to even pretend to be an “honest politician.”

(I was pissed about FISA, too. Big time. But, the more I thought about it, Republicans didn’t mind the executive having this power as long as it was one of theirs in the office. Watching them turn into staunch civil libertarians overnight when it’s Senator Hussein X’s turn to data mine the telecoms will be entertaining. Plus, maybe Obama thinking about using the Republican version of the executive to keep an eye on the honky militia nutter explosion that’s going to explode like the Clinton years squared once he takes office.)
