James Bond is as old and tired as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. And there is no fountain of youth.

Did you see Casino Royale?  Awesome movie, and Daniel Craig is HOT. The franchise lives on.

CR was fine, Quantum of Snooze much less so. I don’t know that the franchise actually needs to live on: after all, he’s just a spy. Those are dime a dozen.

Were someone to go back to the original novels and make actual adaptations of those (rather than just taking a title and a character name), that might be worth something.

I don’t recall the details but, apparently, the Fleming estate would never allow the actual novels to be adapted. Screenwriters could freely mix ‘n’ match plot elements and names but to actually reproduce one of the originals was not allowed.
