I remember a 1 oz. sack of Mexican set you back $15, domestic was $8-$10. But then again cigarettes we $.45/pack, gasoline was .$329/gallon in tourist towns. Hamburger was $.29/lb., bread was $.19/loaf. But that was 40 years ago.

I keep thinking a gallon of milk, a pack of cigarettes and a gallon of gas all cost about the same thing. Never much cared for that milk though.

Hydroponic pot cultivation is either the first or second largest industry here in British Columbia (forestry, tourismm and film production are the official top three). I am informed that an oz of award winning product from a boutique micro grow (fair trade, organic, no pesticides)can be had for $200.  Personal use possession is on the books as a misdemeaner but is officially not enforced.

In Vancouver we have a four pillars approach to drug use (Prevention, Treatment, Harm Reduction, Enforcement).  We have a safe injection site and free syringes and pipes.  It’s not all sunshine and rainbows though, we have a dreadful heroin use and death rate on the Downtown Eastside and most of our beloved BC bud going south of the border comes back as cocaine. Like most nice places in the world we have an underbelly.

CA price seems high (assuming we are talking good medicinal stuff). Otherwise, it’s about right.
