Is soda the new tobacco?

In my never ending quest to shed an ounce or two, I have cut out soda except for maybe 1 as a Saturday night treat. And Pepsi’s recent “throwback” sodas made me realize how nasty the corn syruped crap really is. I will either be shelling out for a Jones pure cane sugar soda (or something similar) or nothing.

I only drink diet soda, one every morning, 16 oz, which I live for, and which if anybody takes away from me I will kill them oh yes I will don’t even look at that soda oh don’t you dare no don’t you.

It’s not like I’m addicted, I just NEED it.

I’m doing the no soda thing right now and it’s harder than I thought. when I decided to start this I didn’t take into consideration how many alcoholic beverages are made with sodas. It’s depressing.

My doctor tried to get me to go straight, but I gravitated towards straight bourbon.  Diet soda was a compromise.

Corn subsidies - they’ll be the death of us all.

That will never change unless and until we get a re-jiggering of the presidential primary system. Can’t win in Iowa on a “Corn subsidies are killing us all” platform.

An outgoing president who could care less about Iowa, combined with an increased concern over public health concerns, maybe, might lead to change years and years from now. What I’m hoping is a change in factory farming, where cows are not fed corn. That’s a long shot.

At the very least, a rising interest in grass-fed beef and increased availability of grass-fed beef at grocery stores, restaurants, etc, alongside corn-fed.
