Sad. When compared to Ginger Baker, Meg was a very undisciplined skin smacker, but that was a great part of her musical appeal. Her drumming was a great compliment to Jack’s guitar playing, especially in the first 2 or 3 CDs. I wish her well in the future (I am sure Jack will stay busy) and hope she can come to grips with her anxiety issues.
Indeed—“Hotel Yorba” for example is a great show of passionate, unruly drumming. Likewise the first three albums were pure genius, the latter ones not quite so great (fame seemed to kill the spirit or something). While it’s sad to see them go, it is probably a good thing to let those moments be what is remembered.
