One of the cries from the anti-healthcare forces was that if everybody could go to the Dr. the waiting rooms would be full of people waiting to see the Dr. Now I don’t know how things are everywhere else, but ‘round here, about 10% of waitees play handheld/phone game, 10% yell into their cells, 10% yell at their kids, 10% do nothing, and the 60% read the old, contaminated magazines on the tables. If they want to sell copies of magazines, fill up the waiting rooms, and maybe put in sanitary vending machines so every patient can buy a clean mag.

That’s a really great idea gloveshot. Being all geeky, I’d also recommend that rather than a news-rack type device, include a touch screen with full ToC of the issue, and opening paras from the articles. Hell, toss in a WiFi hub and sell digital copies to the bit heads: no need for the WiFi to offer internet: just a download of the current and maybe a few past issues.

I’m sure NewsWeek also has sister magazines that could be offered up in the same delivery device.

Ideally, make it print on demand, but that’s not going to be practical for a few years.

"if everybody could go to the Dr. the waiting rooms would be full of people waiting to see the Dr."
A pretty sickening argument isn’t it? And it fails not just on a basic moral level, it’s also just not a reasoned point of view. If we need more Doctors, employ more Doctors, train more Doctors, improve nursing skills to a level where not every patient needs to see the most qualified Doctors and employ more of these higher-grade nurses. Employ more people. Make everyone healthier. WTF not?

Because that would make it inconvenient and time-consuming for the richest few, Dimmer. Pshaw. Don’t you get it? Like seriously.

Best doctor I ever saw was a registered nurse practitioner, fwiw.
