While I’m a big fan of the separation of Church and State, it may be that this concept ends up giving Church much more power and influence than it deserves. Sure, Church has fucked up almost everything ever, but we should be enlightened enough by now to know that faith has little to do with Church and reality needs no higher power. So while the established religions in the UK can offer “guidance” they don’t have much sway in governance (or maybe they do, but they don’t play a huge role in elections.)
