I don’t know if I love the album as much as I love this particular song (it’s a mixed bag, I think), but I listened to Elvis Perkins in Dearland’s “I’ll be arriving” a whole bunch of times today.

In the Twin Cities area, we have a choice of many Oldies Stations, 1 Top 10, 1 Urban, 2 Country, 2 Talk, lots of Jesus radio, and several Public Radio options. The Current (89.3) is the best in terms of multi-genre music. They are compiling their top 90 songs of 2009. The on air personalities pick “Their Own Favorite 10" to guide registered listeners to pick their own 19 favorites. They have a few songs from the Pitchfork list.

My personal favorite song of the year is a totally meaningless ditty with a rather plain video entitled Dreams. (sorry about the commercial, but Vevo doesn’t sputter like youtube)

Ironically upon reading their Merriweather review (and like how many have we read) I had to laugh when they pointed out that Animal Collective didn’t have to do an iPod commercial.  My favorite comedy video of the year (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/03/27/if-your-ipod-shuffle-coul_n_179973.html) kinda points out that though that’s technically true, it’s still a symbol of indie crossover coolness....
