My dog is 12, a mutt, and for 99.99% of his life he’s had Alpo of varying contents. He’s in good shape for a 12 year old house dog. He also loves table scraps. He’s hardly ever been under the weather bla bla bla............................................................

And, seriously, if we weren’t so “civilized”, we’d be eating stomach contents and blood vessels and such, too. You think that squirrels (which have been popular in certain times and places) could be completely cleaned? Ever see “Never Cry Wolf” about the ecobiologist who goes to find out what’s killing the caribou and lives for a time off the fieldmice that invade his camp to see if the wolves he is studying could live off them? Think he cleaned the viscera out of them?

And the redering process takes place at a sufficient temperature to kill any virus or bacteria that would be present.

Only thing left that may be a problem is pesticides or other toxins which are likely in sufficiently small quantities as to be irrelevant. Well, and the additives he mentions towards the end.

Willow is 12. Aside from a tapeworm (dealt with early on) and a recent flea infestation, she’s in good shape. She’s sleeping a little more and doesn’t jump to the tops of the bookcases these days but will still race wildly about the house and generally act like a kitten when the mood takes her (sometimes at deplorable hours).

Royal Canin is our food of choice. Kibble. We get ants if we try to feed her anything else.
