Yeah, it’s a mess. Originally 4G was a real, cohesive technical specification—but then marketing types took over and decided that they could sell people on the term “4G” without it meaning anything really.
So now we’ve got double trouble: if a carrier does build and implement a true 4G network, how can they sell it and how will the customer know?
We do have Sprint 4G available in our area, but we are fringe on Verizon’s 4G network until sometimes this summer. AT&T is rather spotty, and T-Mobile has had a bad reputation for various reasons over the years. Pricing is a major issue, as are data caps and device capabilities.We will probably wait until X-mas and see what kind of bait and switch deals are available at that time.
