07:04 PM | | Some great facial expressions!
I’m lucky enough that I’ve never been harassed although some of the conversations and situations I’ve been in with co-workers were of, shall we say, questionable taste.
Like when I was trying on the button shirts we’d ordered for booth duty and it was a little too small & my boss said, “Yeah, we’ll get LOTS of folks around our booth if you wear that one.”
Or the co-worker I went to a couple times and said, “My life sucks right now. Can I get a hug?”
But both of these guys were actual friends. We talked about darn near everything.

09:38 PM | | I’ve been sexually harassed plenty. Good times, good times. I remember laughing in the face of the assistant manager at the crap restaurant/bar I worked at (a place not unlike T.G.I.F., but it only had about 4 outlets, all in Virginia), who told me on my first day, “Things can go really good for you here, or really bad ...” and then pointed to his dick.
He did that to everybody; sadly, the virgin took him up on it.
At a major department store where I worked in the hardware department, one of the guys in the lawnmowers section, a devout born-again type dude, told me this “joke” that went like this: “What if finger was really a penis, and your hole was right here on your arm. Every time I poked you in the arm, just like this, it’d be like ... you know ...” and then whenever he saw me he would poke me in the arm, say “Poke,” “Poke,” “Poke,” and giggle.
Major huzz.

Wait, you mean you? Or did I miss something? Fuck that’s way beyond the pale.

04:55 AM | | Gah, Lady P, that sounds rather horrid.
On the other hand, since college, guys have pretty much never flirted with me or pursued me which kinda makes me feel like crap about myself sometimes.
But I think I probably prefer being ignored over huzz.

07:49 AM | | No, Moira, don’t feel bad on that front. People who sexually harass tend to do it to anyone with a twat, so it’s more likely you’ve just been lucky enough to work with decent people. They get off on the power of it, and if they do any kind of discriminating it’s not based on attractiveness but on what they can get away with. If anything, you were weeded out because they could tell you were smart enough to punch back. Which, by the way, might also have intimidated any potential flirters as well.

Or, based on the pictures, anyone with perceived genital compatibility. So what’s with all the uber-aggressive women in those photos?

01:13 AM | | The second company I worked at in the USA (Telecom Project Assistance) was a husband and wife setup. Just about every time we had a department heads meeting, I’d get a shoulder rub from Denise (OK) or Bert (her husband, kinda creepy). I mentioned it to our controller, and she said “Well, your group brings in 3x what the others do combined—so they probably can’t help themselves.”
Side note: Butterboy was shagging the controller, which he never let on to me until much later, but I still felt icky over having used the conference room table in a way different from the two of them.
