There’s a row of small stores along Bascom Avenue in San Jose that I’ve always wanted to photograph: Space Cat, Big Al’s Record Store and man others. Think I’ll take my camera along today and see if I can snap them.

Katy’s Candy Store needed to be raided by the vice squad decades ago, but Walters Hardwarelooks pretty neat. I bet you can buy blueing in there.

I lived just down the street from Esposito & Sons meats. The window ads centered on the availability of exotic meats, such as Alligator or Emu, which distinguished them from nearby Big Apple Meat Market (about a block up) and PIcinini & Sons, two or so blocks more.

I think all these butchers are safe, so long as NYC has restaurants.
