10:22 PM | | So, I have a Scottish Degree in Computer Science: which means I passed all the exams, fulfilled my placement, and can learn shit. But how does that compare to the US system, where getting a degree basically means you showed up occasionally and tried your best to pass at least a few exams, now and then?
Scottish education is messed up: I could have applied for an MSc at one of the Universities, done four years of academia, and if I failed my finals I’d still get a BSc. Kinda “you what now?”—it’s like a booby prize for you know, trying.
Ah, what the heck, I can just send in my £500 a year, write a little paper, and get to add MBCS (Member of the British Computing Society) to my title (a title given only by the current Queen/King). Should impress on a business card, right?
