I listened to a couple of minutes of the debate, when they were talking about China. The participants (in different manners) all stated that China must be coaxed into being a responsible trading partner which will not pirate American technology to gain an unfair advantage in producing goods for the world markets.

I work for a company that supplies to the world markets in direct competition with China (as well as Korea & Singapore). We compete not by magical technology, but through a commitment to quality that exceeds the cost savings of doing business with our foreign competitors. Cheaper is not always better. The prices we charge might be pennies per unit above China’s, but our customers are glad to pay the difference, knowing that their customers will be more satisfied in the end.

And if they were using your Magical Technology™, then there’s already a system in place to deal with that by way of patents and so on.

(Of course, you may still get pirated first, but so it goes…)
