Having watched Arcade Fire on TDS, I can’t say I was much impressed—sounded just like most other rock/pop/whatever bands. And releasing your album in X-many different covers is a nasty trick taken from the comic book industry that fans end up hating. Ploy ploy ploy.
I actually like that album so far quite a bit. I don’t think they are treading super-new ground here, but they can craft a pop-rock song like no other, and somehow bring meaning to the whole enterprise, and still somehow have fun.
One of my favorite songs is Neighborhood #3, from the first Arcade Fire album.
