Not implying that these places are only better than “the bell” of course—just that sometimes we maybe don’t expect much. Most of the “good” Mexican places around here look / sound similar. If I came by one of these places, I’d be happy to try them out.
There’s getting to be more and more competition in Mexican food—I thought R&R taqueria were the only good tacos in town, but as it turns out there’s a cart up the road from R&R and a tiny Mexican grocery store in a nearby strip mall also has pretty good tacos (supposedly).
My comparison for R&R tacos are the tacos we used to have in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, a Mexican neighborhood where there might be four or five taquerias on a block all the way down the main drag of the neighborhood. These compare favorably, are even slightly better than many of those. The best tacos I’ve ever had, though, came from a little taqueria around the corner from my friend’s apartment in Kensington, Brooklyn. They were slightly better than these.
So I fill up my car with gas, check the oil, and have the mechanic grease the suspension. While I wair, Ifill my stomach with oily goodness that will soon have me exhausting gas which sometimes leaves a grease mark. Sounds like the place to go!
