But seriously, remember - evolutionary biology doesn’t take into account that humans have a lot of cerebral cortex that allows higher, rational thought, sympathy and moral evaluation. It may be true that these behaviors have been an evolutionary advantage that got us here, and they may be intrinsically human behaviors. However, that in no way justifies them. People who cause suffering to others are seriously deficient in some ways and that shouldn’t be mitigated by science.
