09:26 AM | | I will be totally honest here. Mrs. GS & I were married 3 months and 2 days after we first met. We were married in an old church located at 222 2nd St. North, on May 22, 1976. We sent out a total of 22 invitations. The ceremony just happened to last 22 minutes. Coffee and cake were served after the ceremony in the church basement. We did not have a car, an apartment, or a clue what we were going to do next. It has been a roller-coaster ride of thrills, chills, highs and lows, but were still together after 34 years & 3 kids. Just shows, you never can tell.

08:58 AM | | GS, I don’t think it says getting married is bad for marriages--if you read the article, it’s just talking about the $20,000 wedding where the bride gets all trounced up and it’s a giant show. The article contends that the show is all about ego, the converse of what’s required in marriage. Or something something.

11:42 PM | | I’m a big fan of the simple where sacraments are concerned. I can’t get behind 2nd mortgaging the parents’ house so that the bridal party can have a tulle draped trolley ride through the fashionable neighborhoods.
One of my favorite weddings was a potluck. Whatever you thought your greatest talent was ... food, music, flowers, etc. The sad bit was the bride’s sister had a huge boner for the fashion stylings of Little House on the Prairie, and she made the wedding dress.
Alas, the marriage is long gone.
