I am currently on a 6 day weekend. To maximize energy efficiency during the current downturn, my employer decided that instead of going to 4 day workweeks, it would be more effective to close for 6 days (including a weekend) mid-month. Vacation was to be used to cover missed days, which for most employees ran out in Feb. The last of mine will be gone today. Makes it tough to take any time off that isn’t mandated by the company, thus insuring a relatively stable workforce.
