Most of the video follows the 1905 subway train as it heads north to 42nd Street, and you only get a glimpse of the platforms. But at the very end, at 42nd Street, you can see a number of people—regular people—dressed up and running their daily errands, going to work, or coming from work, or going shopping, or whatever. I don’t know that there’s much video from this time of anybody, but it strikes me as particularly unusual to find a video not of a silent film, or a politician, but ordinary people doing ordinary things.
